Sip & Sew tote bag workshop
Friday, 10/13, 6-8:30pm
at the No Trace sewing studio, Capitola
421 McCormick Ave.
Guests 21+ are invited to join us & learn the basics of sewing & make your own tote bag. No experience necessary! Take a moment for yourself to learn how to sew. Â
We’ll be making a lined tote bag large enough for books, laptop, groceries and more.
Please bring 1 yard of fabric (or 2 half yards) to make your own tote bag.
You’ll want a quilting cotton (also called cotton poplin) or a light weight canvas. No stretchy or fancy fabrics for the tote bag.
Grab your friends & bring them along too! Â
Where to get fabric: The Fábrica (https://thefabrica.org/), 703 Pacific Ave, Santa Cruz, CA 95060, has very affordable fabrics that are upcycled & saved from the landfill. This is my favorite place to get fabric in Santa Cruz, but they have limited hours so plan ahead.
Hart’s Fabric in the Seabright neighborhood of Santa Cruz has a lovely selection. Beverly’s in Soquel has lots of options as well.
Check your local thrift store for fabric as well.
Online options: FabScrap (https://fabscrap.org/) for upcycled fabrics and Swanson’s Fabric (https://www.swansonsfabrics.com) also has upcycled fabrics.
Classes happen at the No Trace sewing studio, 421 McCormick Ave in Capitola.
